The main purpose of neo-noir is to show the idea of film-noir but in a more modernised style which means that it attracts the audience of today. The style and techniques is very mush the same as film-noir but not the exact same because it uses updated versions of film-noir to make it seem more up-to-date and so it links in with the times. For a long time neo-noir wasn't considered as its own genre and was thought as just the same as film-noir and held very little importance. However after the 1970's it became more well known and also by its own definition not by film-noir.
