As a group we did a lot of planning before shooting. We marked out where we were going to shoot the film and also what props we planned to use. The props included was a purse which is the main focus of the film, we planned that we would use close ups and extreme close ups to emphasise the importance of the purse. We also planned the layout of where we were going to go. We did this through shooting maps which was a plan of where the shooting was going to take place.
The 180 degree rule is a media rule when there are two people in the same scene who have to keep the same left right relationship and not cross the imaginary axis because this will only confuse the viewer and they won’t understand where everyone is anymore. For example in a football match you cannot break the 180 degree rule because then the viewers will think that its past half time and the goal positions have changed. This rule was important in our filming task because we weren’t allowed to break this rule only famous directors can execute this correctly.
We used a mixture of tracking shots and some panning shots. The tracking shots were used to follow the two characters when they were walking. Also we used a lot of close ups and extreme close ups to show the purse up close. We used over the shoulder shots when the two characters were speaking so we got both points of view. We did a tracking shot, from a bird’s eye point of view when the female character walks through the corridor. A long distant shot was used for when the female character walks down the stairs. Another close up was used for when the male character opens the door and there is a close up of his hand opening the door. There are low angle and high angle shots to show who is superior and who is inferior in the film sequence.
