Props and Costumes

Props
We’re going to use a bag to reflect the girls character, the bag will be packed with her belongings to show she has runaway from home, the bag is filled with random things and may be essentials she needs. She also has a train ticket to show she is travelling somewhere and leaving home. The train ticket has many close ups to emphasise this fact. Another prop that we have considered is a newspaper to bring a connection between two characters, so they can start conversation. A cup of tea on the train table, something for the characters to ‘fiddle’ with. There are going to be many props on the table whilst the two characters are speaking and reflect on everything, there may well be a book or a lipstick an ipod to display the characters youth, but this is also her way of blocking out the world. There will be possibly a compact mirror for when she is looking down at the table and looking at her reflection. At this point there will be shots of her looking into the mirror, so we get glimpses of her face but not completely because her whole identity is hidden throughout the whole scene. This hidden identity is kept through the whole scene because it ties in with the story of the movie. This also sets the scene of the whole film as an opening.

Costumes
The costume of the girl is fairly scruffy, and she is dressed in very average clothes, preferably jeans a plain top she has a trench coat, a brown one. She has very little make up because she left her home in a hurry and so she didn’t have enough time to do her hair nor her make up. Her hair is still the same, its down left untied. Its in curls and fairly scruffy. No jewellery, possibly winter boots. She has a large, shopper bag for all her belongings. Most of which has been put in the bag unfolded, just quickly put in, in an untidy manner. She looks like she hasn’t had much time to pack and she’s wearing the same clothes that she left her house in.
The other character she is speaking to, is in very ordinary clothes and is yet to be decided whether they are a man or woman. They are wearing a big warm coat. Maybe a hat to add mystery they look middle class/wealthy and have a briefcase they look like they are going to possibly work. They seem like they have a high position at work and get paid steadily. A man wearing a black suit and tie with smart shoes and if it’s a woman playing the character then the woman is wearing a pencil skirt with a white shirt and a thin black waist belt, with a black handbag. However if it another teenager then they will probably dressed very average but still quite neat and tidy in comparison to the female lead. Otherwise we have ideas about it being a man who is very open and happy dressed in everyday clothing, very sociable.
There will be passengers and people who are getting ready to board but they will all be ordinary people dressed as they do everyday. This is to make the girl look more isolated, and lonely as she has run away from home she has had to sacrifice any support from friends or family and subsequently she is stuck fending for her self. The more amount of people means the more she looks isolated. Also the train is fully booked and there is a lot of passengers, this again emphasises her loneliness.
