Shot Planning and Location Planning

We are going to shoot our thriller opening in Norwich train station and we plan on filming most of the thriller opening on the train itself. The idea of using a train scene is a recent one and in fact it had been used a considerable amount of times in other films. The french film 'L'Homme du Train' and the film 'Stranger on a Train' both base their film around a train and the train is used as the main focus and illustrates the whole film. We are using both of these films as inspiration and guidance on our film opening and it also enables us to visualise the direction needed better.

Another film that we used for inspiration was the film 'Se7en' which used clever jump cuts between sequences and still allows us to see everything needed. We will probably use this idea of jump cuts when wanting to show the props on the table and also in between the conversation between the two characters. This also allows us to seal the main characters identity with fast moving cuts between shots.

We plan on using the train station itself as a starting point and then the train for the whole sequence which may or may not feed into a flashback of what has happened to explain the story-line.
